For this week, my intention was Empathy. The importance of empathy, but also the difficulty of empathy.
Empathy does not need to end with a solution. To sit next to a friend and remind them of the positive, is actually sympathy. Therefore, empathy is extremely difficult. We want to help our friend feel better, but to really empathize, we must allow them to feel their grief and their pain. We must acknowledge the bad situation for what it is.
Empathy requires you to step into another person's mind, to see things from their perspective, and to understand their pain.
"Empathy has no script. There is no right way or wrong way to do it. It's simply listening, holding space, withholding judgement, emotionally connecting, and communicating that incredibly healing message of , 'You are not alone'."
As always, thank you for reading, XO-
