My Only Staple Button-Down

J. Crew Button Down | Camisole (Old Who What Wear Collection similar here and here) | Mix No. 6 Shoes | J. Crew Shorts | Kendra Scott Kiri Necklace

Typically, I am not one for button-down shirts. I find they don't fit my body type as well as expected. So when I tried this blue and white striped shirt, I was shocked to see how well it fit!

Currently there are plenty of sizes available. I sized down for a more fitted look.

This top can dress up any outfit, whether it's a skirt, jeans, or in my case shorts. I love throwing this shirt over a camisole with a rolled up sleeve for a more relaxed style.

Fall Skirt For Spring

I find spring and fall to be interesting times of the year. They're a middle ground; a combination of every weather imaginable: hot, cold, rain, snow. They're both transitional times. In the fall we move from sandals and sundresses to boots and sweaters. Then in the spring we trade our sweaters for the same sundresses.  The thing I have found to be most curious is how no one seems to talk about just how similar these two season are style wise. With both season lasting about three months, we spend more time transitioning between winter and summer, then we actually do in the heat or the col.  Despite their similarities, we are expect to have separate wardrobes for both seasons.

My red corduroy skirt, perfect for a fall day. I purchased it last October and wore it constantly in the fall. I have styled it with boots, tights, chambray shirts, and sweaters. I recently pulled it out of my closet and became sad at the thought of not wearing this for another 6 months. The color is deep and the fabric is heavy; not up to the normal spring standards. But I decided I didn't want to ignore this skirt. In a time where jean skirts, another heavy fabric, have come back in style, I believed this will work.

I started with a complimentary color for the deep, warm red. I decided that blush (a spring stable) would pair nicely with the burgundy. I brought this out in my shoes and accessories, with additional touches of silver and gold. Then one of my favorite white tees, partially tucked in for a relaxed look. Finally, my jean jacket, an item I wear all year round.

After the success of this outfit, I am determined to keep this up. Hopefully, this is help me expand my outfit choices, while keeping my shopping this spring to a minimum.

Summer Shoe Favorites

Summer has always been my favorite season for shoes. Everything is so colorful, with a mix of high heels and ballet flats. So I decided to share my favorite shoe buys of this summer!

1. Blush Ballet Flats Ballet flats are always my summer go-to shoe. Personally, I don't like wearing flip flops unless I am at the beach, so I need an alternative to an easy slip on summer shoe. In my array of ballet flats, I realized I was missing a blush pink pair. So I went on the hunt and found this pair! They are so comfy and simple and had a great price point.

When I found these, there were so many color options! I decided to go with the turquoise color because it is one of my favorite colors, especially for summer! They go with shorts, skirts, and sun dresses, so I've been wearing them all the time!

3. Lace-up Ballet Flats I had been iffy about this lace-up shoe trend. I had seen some styles I liked and others I didn't, so I wasn't sure if it was a style I should pursue. As a compromise, I decided to tryout the style on a less expensive shoe, and see how often I would wear them. Turns out, a lot!

I decided to try one last pair, and if they didn't work, I was giving up. Thankfully, I tried because this pair was the perfect one!

5. Blush/Gray Ankle Strap High Heel When I saw these shoes, I didn't have a reason to buy them. But of course, I didn't let that stop me because they are beautiful! Since they're purchase, I have found reason after reason to wear them and I have gotten so many compliments. Sometimes you just need to buy the shoes!
